The darkness began to fade.

“No! He cannot escape death again. Even He died for three days!” Aba Ka raged. The voice was much further from Jacob now.

He was back in the present. He realized he had relived the crucifixion of Christ again. He had done this before, the last time his earthly body died. He remembered how upset Michael O’Bannon had been on that occasion. They had been working together.

“He did not descend into Hell! He must go to Hell!” the almost completely faded voice of Aba Ka protested as Jacob’s vision began to clear.

Jacob then saw figures before him and realized through the haze that it was night time. He was in the park at the center of the town of Idyllwild Falls. There were two men standing in front of him, next to the veterans memorial plaque, looking towards the restaurant across the little mountain street. One was older than the other but they looked like they were related.

He realized the men were the O’Bannon brothers. Archie and Hamish. He tried to speak to them but his mouth would not open. He raised his hand to his face and looked. There was no hand there. He looked down at his body but there was none. It had not yet begun to take form.

Then he remembered the witch that had murdered him. If he presently had a face it would have flushed red as he became angry. He would have to concentrate. He would have to hold on to his righteous indignation with great fervor to make his body appear to the boys.

They needed him.

The town needed him.
